Using twitter to create traffic

At 9am on Sunday the 3rd October Glastonbury festival tickets went on sale. We decided that we wanted to go to Glastonbury in 2011 so at 9am I set the computer and telephone up to pursue the purchase. While FireFox was using the auto refresh plugin and the phone was on redial I decided to do a test on how much traffic can be gained by talking about the event on twitter.

I set the Blogcop.com site up to list and display the twitter feed for Glastonbury and every 5 minutes sent a message on twitter about how long it was taking to get tickets. The amount of traffic that came to the site was 10 fold and after 45 minutes I had to stop due to overload.
